The Lake Lanier Association has received a 2007 BoatU.S. foundation Clean Water Grant to install 124 bilingual "Do Not Litter' signs in parks and marinas around Lake Lanier and to develop Public Service Announcements.
The LLA is one of 13 nonprofits selected from a nationwide pool of applicants for Clean Water Funding this year. Over 100 grant proposals from 28 states were received, so, according to the foundation, competition was fierce.
Over the summer, the LLA will be working with the Corps, marinas and counties to install these signs around the lake. Additionally, the LLA has developed Public Service Announcements which will be carried on the Spanish station La Raza and on WDUN-Access North Georgia.
For more information on the grant, read the press release from BoatU.S. Foundation.
